Kapital Bank warns users to stay alert: Unlicensed software poses serious cybersecurity risks | Banco.az

In an age where digital technologies have become an integral part of daily life, cyber fraud is also on the rise. Based on regular monitoring activities carried out to prevent such incidents, Kapital Bank is calling on users to be vigilant. Recent investigations revealed that over 12,000 devices infected with malware were actively using the Birbank mobile application. Thanks to proactive measures, all of these devices were secured and potential risks were eliminated.

Importantly, the bank does not limit its efforts to reacting to incidents but actively implements preventive measures. Kapital Bank’s security infrastructure is powered by AI-based technologies. These systems monitor banking operations 24/7 and immediately respond to suspicious activity.

Nevertheless, the fight against cyber fraud requires joint action from both banks and customers. Using unlicensed or cracked software poses serious security risks. Such software often contains hidden malicious codes, known as “backdoors,” that allow cybercriminals to secretly access users’ devices. As a result, personal data can fall into the hands of third parties.

Android users are particularly at risk when downloading applications from sources outside the Play Store such as modified versions of “WhatsApp Plus,” “Instagram Plus,” or game APK files. Additionally, using public Wi-Fi networks when making online purchases with bank cards is strongly discouraged.

Therefore, Kapital Bank once again urges its customers to be cautious and never share their personal information such as CVV/CVC codes, one-time OTP passwords received via SMS, card PIN codes, or the FIN number from their ID with anyone. We also advise against trusting amateur videos or promotional materials that appear to be sent on behalf of banks.
